HISTORY FILE – A lovely history file for an equally special car. Registered new on 20^th June 1978 in Italy, this example was imported to Germany in 2002 where it remains today. It’s been subject to a part restoration in 2007/2008 resulting in a modest valuation for the time. The current custodian purchased the car in 2010 and immediately set about a full body, interior and engine restoration resulting in the superb example we see today. The car is probably better now than when it left the factory.

EXTERIOR – Full Restoration. Our iconic Giuseppe Scarnati designed Giulia Nuova Super is one of the last of the line; easily noticeable from the black plastic front grill and flat boot lid without the earlier model centre spine. This classic Alfa Romeo is finished in Azzurro Le Mans Blue (code AR-348). This eye catching colour boasts a glossy uniform finish. Structurally perfect following a complete nut & bolt restoration, this cherished example is an incredible survivor and a rare sight today. The stainless steel bumpers, overriders and other bright-work are in pristine, restored order and compliment the striking paintwork beautifully. An Alfa Romeo – for those who dare to be different!

INTERIOR – Full Restoration. The front bucket style seats and rear bench are covered in luxurious tan leather and are completely free from wear and discolouration. The matching vinyl door cards are pristine with new black carpeting throughout. Typical Alfa Romeo styling characteristics are dominant with beautifully machined door furniture and ornate trim sections. The perfect three spoke steering wheel is an item of sheer beauty and craftsmanship. The quality but delicately designed switchgear is fully functional and intact, as is the fascia itself. The epitome of Italian flair and design preserved for all to marvel.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION – Full Restoration. The light alloy four cylinder in-line unit in this 1600 Nuova Super model features two overhead camshafts and a vertical twin-choke carburetor.  Displacing 1570cc, this 102ps (75 KW) the engine fires promptly at the turn of the key and delivers quiet yet eager performance. Matching the engine exactly is the original five speed all-synchro gearbox, the only saloon car in its power bracket at the time to feature five forward speeds! Renowned performance for its era from such a modest engine size.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES – Full Restoration. Five immaculate pressed steel wheels remain as factory fitted and are graced with the original stainless hubcaps showcasing beautiful Alfa Romeo detailing. Four quality Maxxis 185/70 R14 tyres have excellent tread remaining. Once used to the typical vague Alfa brakes, the all-round disc braking system with servo assistance offers adequate stopping power having been completely renewed in accordance with a full restoration.
