EQUIPMENT – Folding hood, tonneau covers (full and half), converted chrome bumpers, twin Magnatex chrome door mirrors, rake adjusting seats, inertia seat belts, two speed heater, swiveling sun visors with vanity mirror, map pocket, lockable glovebox, radio CD player, electric impulse tachometer, clock, oil, fuel and water gauges, interior courtesy lamp, hazard warning lights, cigar lighter, trip and mileage recorder. Dealer accessories: rear fog light, MG rubber mats, Moto-Lita wooden steering wheel, MG mud guards.

EXTERIOR – Finished in MG’s popular Tartan Red, this Roadster presents beautifully with a bright polished shine and good finish following a full body off respray around 2002. All the panels are damage free and structurally excellent, but there are a few tiny paint blemishes at the rear left wing beadings. The replacement chrome bumpers and trim sections are in fantastic order and the black hood has recently been replaced. All the chrome embellishments are shiny and intact with both tonneau covers, half and full a wonderful addition. All poppers are present and correct. The under bonnet area is very well presented with an additional liner but, on closer inspection, the bonnet itself does appear slightly ahead of the scuttle area. Both doors shut clean with no adjustments required. A fantastic example of this classic fun sports car.

INTERIOR – The factory original seats have been replaced with black high quality leather covers with red piping, unmolested and in good condition. Closer inspection will show the driver’s side entry area with 4” piping missing but not tragic. All the controls, gauges and switches set in the perfect crackle finish fascia function correctly. A modern radio/cd player is an added bonus with quality door and rear speakers fitted behind both seats. The boot area is roomy by sports car standards and is complimented by a new boot and spare wheel liner. All interior carpeted areas present well. A ‘tight’ MGB Roadster experience with Mota-Lita in your hands.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION – This four cylinder engine with a five bearing counterbalanced crankshaft produces 84bhp at 5250rpm and offers ample performance for daily use. The tough, well proven BMC ‘B’ series engine is a simple unit with brilliant access and fantastic parts availability, every classic car owners dream! The four-speed all synchromesh gearbox gives sporty performance coupled with good fuel economy. The electrically controlled overdrive offers a smooth change. The replacement engine benefits from a complete rebuild in 2004 with this example maintained by a fastidious engineer owner who has added: Kenlow fan, K&N Pancake filters, new manifold, silicone HT leads and alloy rocker cover to mentioned just a few improvements.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES – The Rostyle wheels are in superb condition with recently purchased chrome ‘trim rings’ added to the 175/80 R14 tyres which have excellent tread remaining. The boot mounted spare is present and in excellent order with a new boot liner and spare wheel cover. The hydraulic brakes with servo assistance employing discs at the front and 10 inch drums at the rear offer adequate stopping power. In recent years, the fastidious previous owner has added parabolic springs and new calipers. All 4 wheels are secured by quality wheel arch protectors.

HISTORY FILE - Registered new on the 22nd November 1977, this example has led a cherished existence. The previous keeper purchased the vehicle in July 2003 and, with his engineering background and prowess, proceeded to create a wonderful example of the ubiquitous ‘B’ which any new proud owner could just get in – and drive! The car has wanted for nothing in the last 12 years with a huge amount of receipts to back up the passion.  The previous owner was an active member of the Glasgow MGOC and the car is a credit to the man and his love for the brand.

The new owner should be absolutely thrilled.
