GermanyHISTORY FILE – Every so often a car comes along that will simply stop you in your tracks, which is exactly what happened with our exemplary 1990 Daimler Double Six example. Just 4 owners have graced its presence with all of them giving the vehicle the full marque dealer service history with absolutely zero compromise in terms of maintenance. A total of 22 appropriate brand service stamps sit proudly in the service schedule, right up to 98,000 kilometers in 2004 when the car receives extensive conservation treatment to the tune of over €2000 before being de-registered in 2009. Regularly turned over during its further dormant state, another recent oil change and check have brought the car back to life so that Cathedral Classics can now offer this astounding car to the market place.
EXTERIOR – The mostly original paint is astonishing. A small blemish on the boot is hard to spot but does not detract from the overall impression. Not perfect by any stretch of the imagination but, the car is in remarkable overall original condition and we welcome any inspection. Gleaming chrome elements throughout combined with all original ‘SICURSIV’ glass all point to a wonderful original example.
INTERIOR – It’s fairly well documented that the Daimler products received a higher level of quality interior materials than their Jaguar counterparts: leather, wood and carpeting were all hand-picked to ensure that superior Daimler environment. Our car is no exception with an incredible luxurious feel to it, right down to the plush, thick-pile over rugs. Cruise control and an electric sun-roof all add to this suitably Royal setting.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION – The twelve cylinder XJ12 HE (High Efficiency) engine, incorporating Bosch fuel injection, displaces 5343cc and produces a top speed of 225 km/h and is effortlessly achieved in a most civilised manner. When maintained to a high standard, this beautifully smooth engine is whisper quiet at all speeds. The three speed automatic GM 400 transmission is seamless with instant kick-down. Excellent oil pressure is a reassuring site.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES –The immaculate Daimler emblem Pepperpot alloy wheels are covered in brand new quality 215/70/R15 quality Vredestein tyres. The completely unused Pepperpot spare wheel is also treated to new rubber. The original tool kit is complete.
