History File

This well preserved example boasts just two owners: On 16.03.1983 the FIAT Supermirafiori was purchased from FIAT dealer Veicoli Industriali Ricambi Assistenza srl with the following chassis number ZFA 131A0000916510 by Mr. Mazziero Guiseppe E Giovanni. The price of the new car, at that time, was a mind boggling 10,900,000 Milion Lira including delivery and taxes! The metallic silver paint was charged at 210,000 Lira alone. Incredibly, the cars original hand written order form is still in the neat history file. The proud new owner, Mr Mazziero, clearly preserved his new car driving it sparingly and carefully. The interior is in remarkable condition, and still has no radio, speakers or aerial holes, just as it was ordered. Both front doors are still covered in protective plastic folio, just as it left the dealership. The car would stay with its original Italian owner until surfacing in the Netherlands in late 2017 where it is imported by the renowned Italian dealer Montagna d’Oro. In 2018, it is purchased and subsequently imported into Germany by the second owner who has since fastidiously maintained the car including an extensive technical overhaul. This new arrival at Cathedral Classics Fiat Supermirafiori was presented to the German DEKRA on 28.04.2020 and approved by Dipl. Ing. Philipp Meier for its current Historical German registration. These cars are a rare sight these days and it’s been a pleasant surprise to present such an example with so few kilometers and clearly a cherished vehicle.

Exterior

Our Supermirafioro 1300 TC was ordered with metallic silver paint at an additional cost of 210,000 Lira and is itemised on the cars original hand written Purchase Order. Almost half the panels still have the original factory paint and present in cracking condition. Discrete paint has been applied to the other panels but only to refresh them as there is no rust on the car – at all. We do see, however, a tiny area on the roof edgings just above the doors, which is clearly just a poor quality level and indicative of the period. The underside silver plastic trim has also received some paint treatment too which has enhanced the overall appearance of the car nicely. Another area where these cars have suffered in terms of lasting quality are the headlights which have both been replaced accordingly along with both front side and indicator lamps too.

Interior

This is the highlight of the car which is in a lovely time warp condition. The environment is completely unspoiled and remains as it left the factory with no radio or speakers. The silver grey cloth interior is immaculate with all five seat positions (and seat belts) offering typical 80’s Italian comfort. Integrated head restraints are like new, as is the headlining. The initial owner has preserved the car beautifully by retaining the dealer plastic front door coverings which is perhaps a little “over the top” but, it’s certainly worked a treat. All switch gear function well and are all commensurate with a car with ridiculously low kilometers which is almost 40 years old. But the front electric windows do operate a little slow which is sadly not unlike other Fiat products.

Engine & Transmission

Extensive investment by the second owner has secured this rare Fiat Mirafiori’s future. Apart from the obvious full service and necessary water pump, timing belt and tensioners in recent months, the following have also been replaced: complete new exhaust system; a new battery; 4 new shock absorbers; steering re-aligned and repaired. The 5 speed gearbox matched with the Fiat’s 75ps 1300 sprightly Twin Cam engine is more than happy in today’s traffic.

Wheels, Tyres & Brakes

Once again, extensive work has been carried out by the fastidious second owner who clearly had an eye for detail: all 5 tyres have been replaced with new Hankook 165/80 R13 rubber and sit on standard steel wheels which are nicely finished with a set of chrome trim rings. But it’s the brakes which have had the higher end of the investment with a complete overhaul: new front brake discs and new pads; new front brake hoses; front calipers renewed; rear axle brake cylinders replaced; brake master cylinder renewed. All in all, a comprehensive workout ensuring safe driving going forward.
