EXTERIOR – This distinguished Jaguar Sovereign is finished in classic Glacier White (code – NDP). The gleaming white paintwork is in remarkable condition considering the car is almost 30 years old. The unmistakable Pininfarina lines of the Series 3 are accentuated by the subtle double coach lines which catch the eye instantly. Absolutely corrosion free, the impeccable paint work stands beautifully against 4 sought after Pepperpot alloys. A small chip to the middle of the windshield is perfectly situated. A dry clean engine compartment completes the appeal of this extraordinary low mileage example.
INTERIOR – A luxurious and almost like new interior is trimmed in original Jaguar Warm Charcoal (Code LEG-GC) leather with matching head restraints and is complemented by burr walnut veneer on the dashboard and doors and are all perfect. Sadly, the driver’s seat shows two slight scuff marks but do not offend. The sculptured supple leather seats are immensely comfortable with electric height control and manual lumbar support offering the optimum driving position for all drivers. The protective thick carpet over-mats, supplied when new, are still in place and are like new with perhaps exception of the driver’s side. Sadly, some glass scratching is showing in the rear left window. The grey headlining is completely intact and pristine. Sheer automotive indulgence.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION – The twelve cylinder XJ12 HE (High Efficiency) engine, incorporating Bosch fuel injection, displaces 5343cc and produces a top speed of 225 km/h and is effortlessly achieved in a most civilised manner. When maintained to a high standard, this beautifully smooth engine is whisper quiet at all speeds. The three speed automatic GM 400 transmission is seamless with instant kick-down. Excellent oil pressure is a reassuring site.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES – The immaculate Pepperpot alloy wheels are unmistakable. Just one tiny section of lacquer lift (almost unnoticeable) to the rear left interrupt an otherwise perfect set. All five 215/70/ R15 quality Vredestein tyres are new, as is the unused spare Pepperpot sitting proud in the boot. The original tool kit is complete.
HISTORY – Registered new on the 10th November 1988 our example has lead an extremely dry, sunny, sheltered life in southern Spain before being German registered in April 2016. The dry condition is absolutely consummate with a very low mileage example. Some Spanish history is available but, the car will be fully serviced before delivery to the lucky new owner who should cherish this rare find. A mere 10,500 Series III Sovereigns were produced and few will match this example which will undoubtedly be attractive to real Jaguar enthusiasts and collectors.
