HISTORY FILE – Coming from a long term family ownership of 30 years (1985 – 2015) our Series 2 XJ6 (L) has lead a pampered life. In 2004 it was treated to a comprehensive restoration costing in excess of €32,000! Over 200 pictures (6 disks) accompany a ten month period of detailed invoices and will thrill any Jaguar enthusiast owner. DEKRA confirm the cars wonderful condition in 2015 with a valuation of €22,500 with a confident Note 2, making our selling price of €17,995 feel rather generous. Continued maintenance by Oldtimer specialist, Thorsten Keding in Köln, has kept the car in top order as it drives absolutely superbly and has clearly been subjected to summer use only for many years.

EXTERIOR – Finished in the rare colour of metallic Silver our limousine looks at home in today’s modern traffic. The new paint from 2004 has lasted well and still shows a very even overall finish. The original vinyl roof balances the exterior colour nicely; closer examination will expose tiny diminishing areas at both A posts. The front bumper also bares a small war wound scar but nothing that detracts from the overall appearance of the car. Front Hella fog lights are a nice modern touch along with remote central locking too.

INTERIOR – The sculptured supple leather seats are ridiculously comfortable offering superb levels of comfort – for all drivers. Finished in sumptuous black leather our big cat now shows a wonderful patina with bags of character. All electric window switches are working perfectly but, should you wish summer comfort, our car has been converted to modern air conditioning.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION – Our particular example is a superb driver and definitely one of the best we’ve experienced. The superlative in-line six cylinders well proven XK 4.2 Litre engine produces 168 bhp and offers effortless performance. The Borg-Warner 3-speed automatic model 65 transmission is beautifully matched to the XK engine giving the perfect driving combination. The extremely clean and tidy engine bay is what you would expect from a well maintained classic Jaguar. Our XJ was converted to lead-free during the cars 2004 comprehensive engine overhaul.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES – The 15inch LM Wolfrace steel wheels (an acquired taste) have unmarked chrome Jaguar centre caps with growler badges. All four Pirelli P4000 M&S tyres have ample tread and are correctly sized at 205/70 ZR15. All-round servo-assisted disc brakes with ventilated discs at the front offer excellent stopping power for such a weighty car. The umbrella handbrake system holds the car well.
