GermanyHISTORY FILE – Delivered by Stratstone Ltd in London on the 20th February 1989, our Big Cat incredibly, is almost 30 years old. The Jaguar dealer service history is immaculate up to May 2000 at 77,572 miles with the balance of the mileage nicely confirmed by the comprehensive MOT certificates and tax discs from 1995 to 2015. Three number plate changes occur from its initial F246RUC culminating in 2008 in Northern Ireland with F306RRO before being exported to Germany in 2016 and 88,826 miles recorded. The neat Nyrex history folder makes interesting reading and is now fully up to date with a recent comprehensive service by a local specialist known to Cathedral Classics. We are delighted to offer this delightful motor car to the market place which offers incredible classic Jaguar value for money.
EXTERIOR – Finished in Solent Blue (715/JFJ) our UK specification car has now been fitted with twin headlights since being exported. There are now a few paint spots that may require future attention, which has been reflected in the overall price, but they could also easily wait without any concerns… Karman’s contribution to the XJS model is well documented and no one can deny this drop dead gorgeous design which still turns heads wherever you go – from both young and old. The original mohair hood is in good condition as is the rear toneau cover.
INTERIOR – The Doeskin leather interior (2 seater) has a nice patina and could be improved but, it’s still a lovely place to sit without any great necessary investment. One must also point out that the car is now 30 years old, so viewing is always recommended to gauge for one’s self. The switchgear operates correctly, but the Ski-Slope centre dash section is now looking a little tired as with all of these models. New boot struts are a recent addition to the on-going maintenance.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION – The 5345 cc HE V12 engine combined with GM’s automatic gearbox is a renowned combination. This example received a full gearbox overhaul with new torque convertor just 10,000 miles ago. Assisted by Lucas fuel injection, it cruises with ridiculous ease making it difficult not to grin as she eats up the miles. The engine bay is now nicely detailed having benefited from a recent comprehensive full service, clean and new bonnet liner. The car is now running absolutely superb.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES – Forged Sports alloy 6.5 x 15in Lattice wheels are virtually unmarked. All four corners are shod in Pirelli P600 235/60 R15 98W tyres with ample tread. On testing the brakes pull the almost 5 meter long “Cat” up nicely and also straight.
