History File

Originally registered in Dubai in 2008 and therefore completely rust-free, this LHD first generation Jaguar XK8 was purchased by the previous (Airline Pilot) owner in 2013. Imported to the UK in 2019 with all European duties and taxes now paid, it recently received its first MOT and ultimately UK V5C registration. Close inspection of the cars neat history file clearly shows that the last discerning owner has spent thousands on the car; a plethora of receipts confirm a fastidious mechanical maintenance over his 7 year tenure.

Exterior

Finished in rare Sea Frost Green (colour code – MDS), this completely rust free car received a fresh coat of paint in 2016 which has given the car a new lease of life. Having lived under extreme heat since 1998, the car simply needed some freshening up and it now looks great; any XK8 will turn heads, but this particular colour is doubly interesting. It’s often been said that, if Jaguar had launched these cars in 1996 as the new F-Type, they would probably today have double their current market value. We at Cathedral Classics would not disagree!

Interior

The Oatmeal interior (code – AGD), despite being subjected to prolonged Dubai heat, has actually lasted rather well. Recently, several plastic trim elements have been replaced to bring the car back to where it needs to be, including a new headlining. There is a small leather defect on the passenger seat, but overall, nothing to worry about.

Engine & Transmission

Beautifully maintained, this example has mechanically wanted for nothing, particularly over the last 7 years. Along with regular servicing, the car has received front and rear suspension work in 2017; new shock absorbers; engine mounts replaced; ball joints; wishbones and wheel bearings have all been replaced too. Most importantly, both primary and secondary chain tensioners were changed at 137,000 kilometers. It’s even received a new bonnet liner.

Wheels, Tyres & Brakes

Some artistic license has been applied when the car was repainted in 2016. The story goes that the company who completed the job simply took it upon themselves to add the green elements to the wheels – without the last owner’s permission! Thankfully, he approved, although they are possibly a little Marmite. All four Dunlop SP Sport 255/45 R18 tyres are almost new.
