GermanyEQUIPMENT – Light-alloy bonnet, detachable hard top, anti-lock braking, driver’s side air-bag, three speed wipers, oil pressure gauge, fuel reserve light, lockable glove compartment, electric passenger mirror, central locking, electric windows, power assisted steering, external temperature gauge, original tool kit, first aid kit. Factory fitted items include: unmarked brown leather, ice cold air conditioning.
EXTERIOR – This exceptional Mercedes-Benz is finished in Light Ivory and is corrosion free. All exterior panels are blemish free. The unmistakable classic Mercedes sports car is a real head turner. The brown hood is clean, tight and free from rips or tears, as are the side and rear hood windows. The colour coded detachable hard top is simply stunning and a fantastic compliment to the car. Once in place, the car looks just as good in coupe guise.
INTERIOR – In the mid-eighties the SL’s leather and wood-trimmed cabin was among the finest examples of automotive luxury available. This 560 is presented with full Brazil Brown leather upholstery, which is in great condition. The cabin remains in fantastic order throughout, with almost no signs of use to the switchgear. The dash and centre console present with no marks or distortion. Deep pile carpeting throughout is in superb condition. The original Becker Grand Prix stereo fitted from new remains in the car and provides excellent clear sound through the original speakers. The burlwood accents and internal chrome finishing is very well preserved. All the gauges, controls and electrics operate perfectly.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION – The V8 engine with Bosch fuel injection displaces 5549cc and produces an ultra-smooth 227 bhp and, as a regularly main dealer maintained unit, it will continue to offer ‘bullet proof ‘ reliability. Gloriously smooth and powerful it is mated to a four-speed transmission (4G Tronic) with rear wheel drive which is seamless in operation and is complimented by the Tempomat Cruise Control system as a factory fit option.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES – The original light-alloy wheels are in excellent condition and scuff free. Shod in quality 205/65 R15 Michelin XH4 all season tyres which retain good tread all round. Incredibly, the original spare alloy and Pirelli remain unused. Dual-circuit braking system with automatic wheel-lock prevention (ABS) and discs to all four wheels pull the car up well.
HISTORY FILE – . Imported from a dry state Georgia America to the UK in August 2015, this example still has its original service books and Mercedes manuals. The service book is stamped to 45,081 miles in 1996. A recent service has been carried out by Rosier Mercedes main dealer in Paderborn Germany, giving the car a clean bill of health.
Incredible build quality and not a single spade connector in sight!
