MG in Abingdon built 1000 Limited Edition cars before their closure on 22 October 1980. This vehicle is number 122 from 420 metallic Bronze Roadsters produced. The other 580 built were all GT models in metallic Pewter.

EQUIPMENT Folding hood, both half and full tonneau covers, polyurethane bumpers and front spoiler, twin Magnatex chrome door mirrors, rake adjusting leather seats, two speed heater, swivelling sun visors with vanity mirror, map pocket, lockable glovebox, Kenwood stereo with 4 matching speakers (the original Pioneer stereo is also with the car), clock, oil, fuel and water gauges, interior courtesy lamp, hazard warning lights, seat belt warning light. Recent additions: battery immobilizer, leather seats with lumbar support, wooden steering wheel.

EXTERIORFinished in vibrant metallic Bronze only available for the final 420 Limited Edition Roadsters. This example also boasts a factory front spoiler helping to accentuate the polyurethane bumpers. A small paint imperfection is sadly now apparent on the front near side wing but, does not detract from the overall appearance. The hood and both tonneau covers are in excellent condition. The chrome mud flaps are a nice exterior addition. A superb, fun sports car that should attract any MG enthusiast or collector.

INTERIORThe previous owner has treated this example to a re-trim with leather seat covers with pump lumber support feature (the original orange! covers are also available). The front foot wells are still protected by high quality carpeting.  The boot is large in comparison to modern cars and is of course protected by a quality carpet boot liner. All the controls, gauges and switches set in the befitting walnut fascia and centre console function correctly. A new wooden steering wheel adds to the nostalgic ambience and an exact MGB experience.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION – The tough, well proven ‘B’ series engine is a simple unit with brilliant access and fantastic parts availability, every classic car owners dream! The four-speed all synchromesh gearbox gives sporty performance coupled with real fuel economy. The electrically controlled overdrive functions fine. Chrome rocker cover, chrome pancake air filters and pots accentuate the tidy engine bay.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES – The limited Edition factory option wire wheels are all in good condition with perhaps tiny scuff marks worth mentioning. They are covered in Michelin MX 165 R/14 tyres with ample tread confirmed by the new MOT. The hydraulic brakes with servo assistance employing discs at the front and 10 inch drums at the rear offer safe stopping power.

HISTORY FILE Supplied new by British Leyland dealer Tourist Trophy Ltd, this wonderful example was registered new on the 1st October 1981confirmed by the original Sales Invoice. An incredible detailed history file comes with the car, listing all 5 previous owners, original service book, some 22 old MOT certificates and tax discs confirm this low miles example.

MOT February 2017.

Probably the best history file we’ve ever had the pleasure to offer.
