Porsche Boxster 986
A well-appointed Porsche Boxster 986 with full Porsche main dealer history
Registered new on 2nd of July 1998 by Wehmeier & Castrup GmbH in Bielefeld, Germany, this example has changed hands a half a dozen times which is not uncommon amongst the Boxster fraternity but, most importantly, the covered kilometers are backed by an immaculate Porsche main dealer service history, with no less than 12 main dealer service stamps. Interestingly, with one exception, the car has remained in the local area, which is no bad thing. All handbooks, guides and dealership literature are contained in the Porsche leather wallet and there are two original keys. All in all, a superbly maintained 986 which is exactly what is required for these inexpensive gems.
Finished in factory optional Arctic Silver Metallic (code L92U) the original paintwork, now over 20 years old, is simply incredible. The uniform finish and undamaged bodywork is commensurate with such a well-cared for example, and only very close scrutiny will reveal minor stone chips which are utterly insignificant. The silver bodywork has been factory de-badged (code 498). The recently new fitted UV resistant hood is a real bonus and now gives the car an almost new look. The factory upgraded (code 396) 17” Carrera-Rad alloy wheels compliment the cars stance nicely. This well-appointed example also includes external electric heated mirrors (code 273) along with a factory ordered alarm system (code 534). An exceptional car in a condition far superior to the usual offerings from examples of this year.
Typical Porsche quality and exemplary craftsmanship is to be expected in this well appointed cabin space. Everything is arranged according to strict ergonomic principles, ensuring maximum driver enjoyment. The factory optional full leather seats in Black (Code BL) have remained in beautifully clean condition with firm structure and wear free bolsters. The carpets are spotless having been protected by genuine Porsche carpet mats. All controls and functions operate perfectly including the recently re-filled Electronic Climate Control (code 573). Effortless folding of the newly fitted electric hood transforms this every day roadster into something truly special; combined with a factory ordered windbreak option (code 551) it offers buffet-free driving. With the top now down and windbreak up, the factory ordered up-graded sound system (490 – Klangpaket) and CD changer (692) can be enjoyed.
Engine & Transmission
Fitted with the robust flat six, first generation 2.5 litre 150 kW (204 ps) engine, it encapsulates the powerful blend of boxer engine and classic roadster mid-engine configuration. The punchy raw sound delivered from the exhaust system is guaranteed to set the pulse racing and full Porsche service history offers peace of mind. Our early example offers the sought after 5 speed manual gearbox which, combined with that mid-engine power unit, it’s almost perfect balanced harmony.
Wheels, Tyres & Brakes
The factory up-graded 17 inch Porsche Carrera-Rad (code 396) alloys suit the car nicely and should really have been standard over the 16 inch wheels. Quality Michelin Pilot Sport 205/50 ZR17 and 255/40 ZR17 tyres are fitted front and rear respectively with masses of tread remaining. The ABS assisted braking system works exactly as it should with appropriate red coloured Porsche callipers.
