HISTORY – Our LHD example, like over 90% of all TR6’s produced, spent its youth and subsequent years in the very dry state of California USA. Re-imported to the UK in late 2015, it was immediately treated to a full differential rebuild, up-rated drive shafts and suspension joints to clear it through the now stringent UK testing authorities. Exported to Germany in April 2016 and subsequently sold by Cathedral Classics, the car has spent the last two years with a collector who has technically brought the car up to his own demanding standards and now drives incredibly well. Always happy to take back previously sold cars, Cathedral Classics are delighted to offer, once again, this fantastic value Triumph TR6.
EXTERIOR – The aggressive lines are unmistakably recognisable and present well in Brooklands Green and, arguably, nicer than British Racing Green. Not perfect by any means but, brilliantly shiny enough to do simply nothing and enjoy it. Bullet chrome mirrors set the corners off should you wish to look behind you! Good chrome, glass, lights, black spoiler trim and badging complete the package and could be improved on several levels but – just enjoy it as these cars are an absolute blast.
INTERIOR – The original contoured seats are finished in black P.V.C trim with ventilated facings. The new black carpeting is protected by additional rubber Triumph over mats; the veneer dashboard and door capping’s all fine. The full cockpit tonneau cover is in excellent condition and the boot area retains all the factory trim so slight markings can be seen. Period accessories are an expensive Motalita steering wheel and Pioneer radio CD player with front mounted speakers and electric antenna.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION – Our late production car offers the more reliable 104ps (78 kW) US carburetor engine and pulls really well. The 4 speed manual transmission with electrical switch overdrive works fine on both 3rd and 4th gears. The tidy engine bay presents well with recent work from the previous owner completing a full cylinder head off plaining with all new gaskets; valves re-set; oil cooler flushed out and cleaned; carburetors cleaned and re-set. All this in addition to a complete differential rebuild when the car arrived in Europe now results to a super running TR6 that can’t wait for its next owner…
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES – Immaculate and correct steel disc type wheels with bright finish polycarbonate hub trims and chromium plated dome nuts are shod in 195/65 R15 tyres. The brakes are hydraulic divided with a direct acting servo giving positive stopping power.
