GermanyHISTORY FILE – Our confirmed matching numbers car was assembled in May 1976, just two months prior to the very last TR6 ever produced. Chassis number: CF56217U and Engine number: CF44759UE are authenticated by British Motor Industry Heritage Trust as matching numbers. The history file starts in 1989 with a comprehensive documented restoration before changing hands twice before its last custodian of some 15 years. Two valuations (Gutachten) appear in the file: October 1990 following the cars restoration, with the most recent from October 2015 where the car was awarded a 2+ condition. Covering just 5k miles in the last 15 years, the last owner has left no stone unturned leaving the car in simply astonishing condition. An immaculate man – with an immaculate car.
EXTERIOR – Viewing is recommended for those looking for – without question – one of the best looking TR6’s available. Simply stunning!! Now finished in British Racing Green (BRG), our very late production restored example is complimented with: near perfect chrome; a new mohair hood; gleaming chrome wires; split twin stainless steel exhausts; chrome luggage rack; front spoiler; all add up to a beautiful looking classic motor car. Perfect glass with clean seals make this example one of the best we’ve ever seen and an absolute cracker. The gleaming 15” wire wheels help to make this example a real head turner.
INTERIOR – One of the highlights of this car is the fantastic interior which is sheer joy. The original contoured seats are now finished in high quality black leather and were fully restored in 2002. The black carpeting is protected by additional carpet Triumph over mats. All the controls, gauges and stalks function correctly including the neat period Becker radio and sit neatly within the well restored high finish wooden dashboard. Both full and half (also mohair) cockpit tonneau covers are in a like new condition. The interior roof fittings have also recently been completely restored.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION – One of the last ever models built in May 1976 and still with the original engine (CF/44759-UE), our car is the more reliable, non-overdrive 104 hp (78kW) version. An absolutely spotless engine bay is a credit to the previous long term custodian of some 15 years who also added the oil cooler in 2007. Underneath the car, which is also spotless, we have gas Spax shockers along with double flute stainless exhausts. K&N air filters currently adorn the carburettors, but the originals are of course available too. The car runs beautifully well.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES – The gleaming chrome 15” wires are from the restoration period and are still in superb condition and suit the car well. The 185 / HR15 91H Vredestein Sprint Classic tyres are in excellent order (TÜV April 2019). The front disk and rear drum brakes pull the car up well.
