HISTORY FILE – Our rare (from approximately 2750 TR8’s built) early fuel Injection model was built by British Leyland’s JRT (Jaguar/Rover/Triumph) division at the Canley, Coventry factory before being shipped to Los Angeles, California in December 1979. British Motor Industry Heritage Trust have authenticated our cars matching numbers as one of the rare Petrol Injection models specifically built for the North American market in the late 1970’s. Also confirmed within the framed Heritage Certificate are factory: 5 speed gearbox, air conditioning(since removed), power steering, catalytic convertor and inertia seat belts. A fastidious ownership in California by Mr Robert Hall, has set the car in good stead; this TR8’s well documented history file clearly confirms the genuine mileage of 95,277 miles and makes fascinating reading. Chassis number TPZDV8AT203299 returns to the UK in March 2001 before finally moving to Germany in June 2017 and receiving a historical registration. A recent service and Bosch fuel injection overhaul make this car now ready to be enjoyed again to hear that famous 3.5 V8 burble. Genuine examples of these underestimated cars are rare. Excellent TR8 examples should not be missed with this car providing a wonderful opportunity.

EXTERIOR – TR8 aficionados will immediately spot the double bonnet bulge confirming our cars true Harris Mann design identity. The Poseidon green paint is relatively new and presents well; an extremely well fitting mohair hood has replaced the original vinyl at some stage and looks tight against the ubiquitous Triumph boot mounted luggage rack. Both front and rear bumpers are in superb condition and are accompanied with a new, recently fitted – original Triumph part – front spoiler. TR8 rear and 3.5 Litre side decals confirm the car’s true wolf in sheep’s clothing identity.

INTERIOR – The original Tan Check interior is overall in very good condition; typical 70’s vinyl trimmed seats with head restraints that combine well with contrasting Poseidon green exterior. Both factory ordered inertia seat belts work perfectly. With the roof down, the ½ tonneau sits tight enabling one to enjoy the car as it should be driven.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION – Our extremely rare Bosch L-jetronic fuel injection car is one of only 352 produced and features a specially designed – for Triumph – Lucas fuel injection computer (ECU). All TR8’s were initially fitted with twin Zenith-Stromberg carbs; Triumph specifically built 352 cars for the US market with fuel injection, one of which is presented here and is British Heritage Trust confirmed. A new battery – boot mounted also confirming the cars TR8 heritage – has also recently been fitted. Incredibly robust, our engine number 14E00011 – V8 3528cc (3.5 L) engine produces a comfortable (101kW) 135bhp.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES – The original wheels have been restored at some stage and present well; all four corners have plenty of tread on Good Year 195/60 R14 tyres. All TR8’s have up-graded brakes over the standard TR7 car and pull our example up extremely well.

Genuine examples of these underestimated cars are rare. Excellent TR8 examples should not be missed with this car providing a wonderful opportunity.
