History

This 1958 Porsche 356A Coupe example was completed in May 1958 and ordered by Porsche Dealer Krauss in Nürnberg, Germany before being dispatched to a Mr Kiefer Durand from California, USA. It subsequently returned to Germany around 2013 (California number plate still with the car) and was put into storage by an astute classic car collector who would eventually commence the frame off, nut and bolt restoration in 2019. Completed in 2022, its Condition 1 status is confirmed with a comprehensive report confirming the cars fully matching numbers: chassis, engine and gearbox status. The car is now German registered with Historical status.

Exterior

Finished in its factory colour of metallic silver (code 5706), the car presents beautifully following a frame off restoration which was concluded in 2022. There are plenty of documented images showing the cars lengthy and meticulous re-emergence. Keen Porsche eyes will notice the factory fitted sliding sunroof and, perhaps most interesting of all, the exterior antenna which is manually operated from the driver’s side foot-well.

Interior

Interestingly, the specification for this 1958 example was very well chosen: sunroof, interior winding radio-antenna, passenger lumber seat, adjustable interior mirror, red leather interior, folding rear seat, coconut carpeting are all confirmed in the Porsche Data Sheet (Kardex) making it extremely desirable. * The above indicated kilometers were converted from the US Miles Tachometer.

Engine & Transmission

This is a matching numbers car confirmed with a Porsche Data Sheet (Kardex) with Engine No: 69 752 and Gearbox No: 19842 both receiving a complete overhaul during the cars frame off, nut and bolt restoration.

Wheels, Tyres & Brakes

Following the completion of the restoration in late 2022 it was consciously decided to offer the car with more of a sportier look which is why the original chrome hubcaps are not fitted. They are available on request. The wheels are covered in modern 165/80 R15 quality Continental ‘Contact’ tyres. Naturally, with a nut and bolt restoration the car has received a complete brake overhaul.
